One night a friend and I went to Flagler Beach to do some night photography. It was on a full moon, which is my favorite time to shoot nightscapes with my film camera. It was after one in the morning, and while my friend was focusing on the pier I noticed the lifeguard chairs pulled closer to shore along the beach. The moon illuminated the beach beautifully and there were some warmer lighting from the street lights behind me. I had taken a series of shots, each one taking 20 to 40 minutes for proper exposure.
I started shooting using a tungsten film, Kodak T64. I had taken two shots of this lifeguard chair, one landscape and the other portrait. Each of these shots were 40 minutes at f/8.
I wanted to repeat the same thing on Provia 100F. I was only allowed to get one shot before cloud cover came in and covered the moon. The settings were 20 minutes at f/8.
On April 5th and 6th, these prints will be on display at our booth at the 41st Annual Catfish Festival in Crescent City, FL. Come by and check out my work as well as my brother’s metal art and custom made grills and fire rings.
