For a few years I went to the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge a lot. For the most part I focused on the lighthouse. I love lighthouses; I always have! The St. Marks Lighthouse has always been the biggest draw for me to the area. This post is a series of pictures taken at the refuge between 2009 and 2012.

Florida has some amazing sunsets, and I can’t think of a much better place to watch the sun set than at the refuge. I have captured quite a few sunsets here, this one is my favorite sunset that I have taken here.

Of course I have shot some sunrises here too. This was one of the first shots that I have taken at the refuge.

The following picture is a reflection shot on the pond.

For the next image, I waded out into the water in my flip flops to get this shot. This was taken shortly after sunrise using my medium format film camera.

For a time I experimented capturing silhouettes. This was one of those experiments. I had posted this image to a photography website and it turned out to be a very popular image. So popular that someone had stolen the picture and called it their own.

The picture above was taken in the early morning hour before sunrise. I have always loved this perspective of this lighthouse. The next shot was a slightly different angle, a little lighter as there was getting to be more light in the sky.

Below is one of the most beautiful sunsets I had taken at the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge. There is no film better than the Kodak E100VS when it comes to shooting sunsets. The film was known for its very warm color saturation for sunrises and sunsets.

I walked down the beach a little ways to take this shot. I wanted to include the lighthouse with the remnants of the old pier in one shot. I thought a panoramic would look good, since there really wasn’t much in the sky above or in the water below.
