In the fall of 2014 I went on a trip to the Flint Hills area of Kansas.  There I met a very good friend and got to see some really amazing places in Kansas.  I stayed at the El Dorado State Park Campground and spent a little time photographing this lake.  On this particular morning, I went down to the waters edge and set up on this spot before daylight.  I was excited when I say the fast moving clouds that looked like the cotton balls.  There was little to no wind that morning, the water looked like glass.  As the sun began to rise, the clouds were glowing of red and orange.  I was hoping that the sun would be out enough to illuminate the trees and yet have a warm sunrise color.  I didn’t want to miss the moment, so I decided to take the shot anyway.

A few minutes later, the sun rose and lit all the trees that were in the lake; my prayers were answered!  I was very excited when I got my film back from the developer.  I was very happy with the picture below.  The light didn’t last long but it at least it lasted long enough to capture this shot.

Lately I haven’t been able to make any trips like I used to.  Too many other projects to deal with right now, but I will be traveling again and soon.  When I do, I will be shooting the cameras that I am most happy with; the medium and large format film cameras.

Both images were taken on the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II, Mamiya 65mm L-A lens, Provia 100F
