The month of August was named in the honor of Augustus Caesar, the first Roman Emperor. Augustus was Julius Caesar’s grandnephew and he had defeated Marc Antony and Cleopatra in 30 BCE.
The first part of August had been a very successful month for photography.
Marineland
On a stormy evening, I went out hoping to capture a dramatic sunset but you know that all too often mother nature may have different plans. The sky was dark and dramatic with intermittent lightening over the ocean. I decided to settle upon these rocks and captured this burst of lightening out over the ocean. It took me about 12 tries using long exposure to get this image. After the evening was over and seeing this, I was elated with joy!
I was wide awake one morning at 3am, so I got up, got dressed and packed my cameras for a drive to the beach. At first it wasn’t much of sunrise but I stayed around and captured this image with the fluffy cloud balls in the sky.
Cape San Blas
Cape San Blas is a little community outside of Port Saint Joe, Florida. The town was ravaged by Hurricane Michael and there is a lot of construction still to repair the damage it had caused. Actually this little boat was stranded here in 2018, not my Hurricane Michael, but by Tropical Storm Nestor.
The Donna Kay had become a tourist attraction for all who come here to visit. Today however, this boat is no longer there. Sadly the little shrimp boat was dismantled on the beach and hauled away a few days ago. So much for taking a re-shoot of this beauty, but at least I did get a few shots of her. Even without the boat, this beach is still a beautiful location for photographers.
After shooting the boat ‘Donna Kay’ I had taken a couple of shots along the shore on my walk back to the truck. The walk along the shoreline had many photographic possibilities and I wanted to capture some of the them on this trip.
Every month I will try to post images taken during the previous month. The posts should be uploaded close to the end of each month. Thank you for visiting my website.
Prints are available on fine-art paper or giclee canvas with the exception for the wall art. Drone images are limited on size due to the type of camera used. Contact me for requests and price
