Sunrises and sunsets are usually associated with the warmer color hues of red, orange, and yellow. Often it is the best time to photograph landscapes. However, the twilight hour offers a different and unique opportunity. Twilight is usually associated with the cooler colors hue of blue, violet and cyan.

The quality of light during twilight is often overlooked. One evening, I was standing in the water photographing the St. Marks Lighthouse. It so happened that there were many photographers there during the “Golden Hour”. Most were part of a photographers’ club that met regularly. Once the sun had set, I was standing there waiting for twilight when the lady next to me started up a conversation. Everyone was putting their cameras up and walking back to the vehicle. I told the lady that the best light was yet to come. She waited beside me for twilight, and she said she got some of the very best pictures ever.
