The youngest brother of a family of photographers, Michael was born in Maryland, but has been a resident of northeast Florida for more than 38 years. Michael’s love of nature, the mountains, beaches, history and historical places reflects in his work. It is not uncommon for him to start photographing at sunset, stay out all night taking long exposures of a moonlit landscape, and finish up by shooting a sunrise the next morning. In addition to spending time with his family and traveling the country for photo opportunities, Michael can be found exploring the Florida beaches, capturing unique images under low lighting conditions.
Michael is a self-taught fine-art landscape photographer that still uses the traditional medium of film. In order to achieve the highest possible quality, he chooses to incorporate both medium and large format film cameras. While most photographers rely heavily on photo-manipulation, he chooses to create a more natural image instead. He has always felt the best results are achieved by making it right in the camera. He makes each image stand out by using the best possible composition, lighting, and weather to achieve the results that he expects. His work has been displayed in several art shows and galleries throughout Northeast Florida.
