Scenic Flagler Pier – Last of the Wooden Ocean Piers

The Flagler Pier is scheduled for demolition within the next few months. The city of Flagler Beach has plans on constructing a new pier that will take about 2 years to complete. Hopefully the new pier will be as attractive as the old one!

The new Flagler Beach pier will be 11 feet higher than the current pier. It’ll be constructed of concrete topped by wood panels. It will be 800 feet long with the first 100 feet of wood, preserving its history. The design will be able to withstand hurricanes and strong ocean conditions that frequent our coast.

I will be taking more pictures of the old pier between now and the time the demolition starts.
